Students’ smiles are my motivation for teaching, says inspirational teacher from Vietnam

NammSo far we’ve been introducing you teachers from relatively small cities and schools. This time, we’re going to go big. Really big. Right in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, a buzzing hive of more than 10 million people. Please meet Nam Ngo Thanh, maths, science, history, and Vietnamese teacher from Vietnam Australia International School (VAS).

Nam is an inspirational teacher in the true sense of the word. Having received the Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Award in 2015, he was also the runner-up at the Microsoft Global Forum in the same year. But he still stays humble and focused on his main passion.

“The people who give me energy for my work are the kids. Whenever seeing students’ smiles, I feel very happy about what I am doing. It is wonderful when they tell me that learning is fun, something I never had when I was a kid,” Nam describes the source of his motivation. And boy, what a source it is: VAS, where Nam has been teaching for 8 years now, serves to as many as 6,300 students.

“I learned about Lifeliqe from monthly newsletter I received from Microsoft Innovative Educator program. I wondered what Lifeliqe is, so I tried it and quickly, I was attracted by the awesome functions which Lifeliqe has. Now kids can’t wait for my lessons!” Nam shares his journey to Lifeliqe.

As you could witness on our social media, he then actively took part in our Lifeliqe Go Challenge. Sharing a number of great use cases of Lifeliqe Augmented Reality feature brought him a full year of free subscription. That’s why it’s worth to follow what’s happening around Lifeliqe!

Nam’s been so excited with Lifeliqe he also used it for an international educational project “Water” which raises awareness about effective usage of water among students.

We combine Surface and Lifeliqe to create amazing lessons. I believe that with Lifeliqe, all adults will wish to be kids so they could go to school,” he says.

Even more so, because for next school year Nam is planning to use Lifeliqe VR Museum and as we have seen many times, virtual reality makes kids literally scream with joy.

“I don’t only equip my students with the knowledge, but I also work to develop their life skills such as critical thinking, information technology, group work, etc. With that, children can get adapted to various cultures throughout the world,” Nam believes.

What an inspiration. Working with teachers like him is a real privilege for us, but also a great responsibility. We wish you tons of happy faces in your classroom, Nam!
